We have been hard at work along with our wonderful gardener, Florence getting the chateau back in shape for spring. As we arrived in France November 2025, we had not seen the chateau during spring. The beautiful weather, birds chirping and flowers blooming, we are more in love with “Jackie” than ever. Jackie is the name of the chateau we gave after first meeting her in August 2025. We went back after the viewing and sat at the locked gates talking about putting in an offer. The song Jackie was playing on the car radio, it was ment to be. From then on we called the chateau Jackie. It should be known that chateau are masculine not feminine in the French language so for the French we call the chateau “Jacques” 😊 #chateau #chateaudelabrosse #chateaulife #lureuil #renovation

Alan and Sophie had a lovely morning playing in the snow they created. By tearing apart their expensive bed, they created a winter wonderland. Also destroyed were two water bowls and a plant pot. I like to call this Feral Friday, with this Friday belonging to the puppies rather than the kids. We woke up three days ago to the ground floor salon and billiard room swarming with bees!! They have built hives in three of the ground floor fireplace chimneys. We opened the plates and tried peppermint oil but it did not deter them. We had to seal them up as there were literally 100 bees flying around! We rang local bee catchers who told us to light a fire & smoke them out. We decided it’s too dangerous as the hives could catch fire and they are not fire compliant at this time (also Bees are so important to nature we didn’t want to kill them) Not one sting!!! French bees are friendly. So if anyone has any tips please share!!! I like bees in my garden not in our chateau!#chateau #chateaudelabrosse #chateaulife #renovation #chateaudiy

We had a our first region business expo this week. All these incredible places are right on our door step! Historical chateaus & monuments, zoo, aquarium, medieval castles, cycle routes, museums and thermal baths the list is endless. Some places we did not even know about!! There are #chateau #chateaudelabrosse #chateaulife #lureuil #renovation activities for everyone- families, couples, nature enthusiasts, food and wine lovers! Come visit!!

It hasn’t stopped raining since I cleaned the deck. After photos will come once it dries and I can see the result.

Trialling a product that should kill the moss and algae on our terrace pavers.

Today we finally decided to tackle moving our 100 year old Russian billiard table which the previous left us. We had been putting off moving it due to its weight and the stairs being steep, tight and a 90 degree turn. We moved from one building (now our toy room, Lego room and craft room) into the main chateau. Also had to navigate stone stairs that were covered in slippery moss. Lucky we were wearing our Australian safety boots…Uggies!! We were able to undo some screws and move in two parts which lessened#chateau #chateaulife #chateaudelabrosse #renovation #lureuil the weight a fraction. Was a massive effort but now guests can enjoy playing on a 100 year old table in a 200 year old castle (300 years old if you count the stables, barn & coach house)
